Here is a fragment of The Start to Roselle’s 100 Years:

“Col. Roselle Hough, for whom our town was named, was the son of Elijah Hough. Roselle left Bloomingdale in 1838 to pursue business interests in Chicago, but he returned in 1868 and turned his attention to the town. About this time, his friend, Bernard Beck, who owned some land in the northeast section of Bloomingdale, decided to have his property legally designated as, “The Roselle section of Bloomingdale”, as a gesture to his good friend Roselle. Meanwhile, Roselle concentrated on accumulating some 300 acres of land near the intersection of what is now Roselle Road and Irving Park Road. When this parcel was platted, he also requested that it be called Roselle…and that was the beginning.”

Now it is a thriving community filled with proud Rosellians celebrating 100 years of progress!
