Roselle Sister Cities – India

Back in early 2021, a member of the Roselle Sister Cities Association’s (RSCA) Membership Sub-Committee talked to Hina Trivedi about the organization, how it was formed, and some of the exciting things that had been done with our Sister City of Bochnia Poland.

Hina liked the organizations’ purpose and asked if there was the same desire to have another group try to find a Sister City in India. She was told her that yes, the RSCA is always looking for inclusion. She was given contact information could use to discuss this idea further.

Hina emailed the RSCA, and an initial meeting was set up for Wednesday, October 6th, 2021, at Roselle Village Hall. A representative of the RSCA set up the initial meeting and was attended by Hina and several people with a like vision of the purpose of finding a Sister City in India.

After that meeting, the group was formed, named (RSCAIN), and plans for monthly meetings were made for the next six months.

On October 27, 2021, the RSCA Board of Directors unanimously approved the new membership of the RSCAIN India Committee into the organization, and on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, the RSCA Board welcomed a representative from the RSCAIN Committee to sit on the Board.

The new RSCAIN Committee is excited to begin their search for a Sister City in India as well as involvement in Roselle and the different areas that the Sister City programs can contribute in.

The year 2022 is significant in that Roselle is 100 years old and the nation of India is 75 years old! That alone demonstrates that not only does Roselle link to itself, but there are global links that Sister Cities brings to Roselle. We look forward to the many cultural and education things that the RSCAIN will mean to Roselle and to India! Please email rscainchair21@gmail.com for more information.
